Ukraine: Status of the conflict and the way forward

On 24 February 2022, Russian military launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Prior to the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian Government forces and Russia-backed separatists were already engaged in military conflict in eastern Ukraine. Many observers expected Russia to achieve its strategic objectives rapidly, given Russia’s perceived advantages in military size and sophistication. They were wrong. Ukrainian forces, with western military assistance, defended their territory and are now engaged in an offensive to try to push Russian forces out of their country. Andrea Kendall Taylor will discuss the war in Ukraine, political dynamics in Russia, and the future trajectory of the conflict.
