Chapter membership is a valuable benefit of belonging to Women In Defense because of the local business and professional contacts and knowledge available. Members are automatically assigned to the nearest geographic chapter, based on zip code. Chapter membership does not require an additional dues payment.
Since its establishment in 1988, the WID Scholar program, previously HORIZONS, has awarded more than $1,000,000 to more than 200 recipients pursuing degrees ranging from law to engineering to math to public policy. Awards are based on academic achievement, participation in defense and national security activities, field of study, work experience, statements of interest, recommendations, and financial need. Recipients must report periodically on the impact of the awards on their personal and professional lives.
Women In Defense is proud to currently host three national events each year - the Service to the Flag Award Ceremony, the HORIZONS Scholarship Celebration and an annual National Conference. Women In Defense's chapters also host a variety of events throughout the year across the country. Check back frequently for updates!
