Liz Specht, Ph.D., has a B.S. in chemical & biomolecular engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from UC San Diego. She is a fellow at the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA)'s Biological Technologies office through a Horizon Institute for Public Service fellowship in emerging tech policy. Previously, Liz served as the Senior Vice President of Science & Technology at the Good Food Institute, a global nonprofit think tank that serves as a field catalyst for emerging technologies in food production. Liz has contributed to dozens of analyses of the field, with a particular lens on technology forecasting and the potential to translate innovations in parallel fields such as biomedical science and material science into accelerated commercial applicability to food technology. She has given hundreds of presentations to a wide range of audiences, from scientific conferences to venture capitalists, and from top food and agriculture executives to the general public. Liz has also served as an advisor to companies, nonprofits, research consortia, and government agencies and initiatives.
