Bio

Sarah Maples is a recovering secret squirrel turned coach, consultant, writer, and nomad. She helps individuals and organizations in the defense and veteran communities define their goals, build roadmaps to achieve them, and navigate through the difficult transition periods along the way.

Before she found her current path, Sarah served as an Air Force intelligence officer and, post-military, as a military transition and veterans’ education advocate. In 2016, Sarah became the first female National Security and Foreign Affairs Director for the Veterans of Foreign Wars representing 1.7 million service members, veterans, and their families. She also wrote a few pieces for The Atlantic, ClearanceJobs, and Task & Purpose, contributed to the anthology Our Best War Stories: Prize-winning Poetry and Prose from the COL Darren L. Wright Memorial Awards and created a veterans resource blog “After the DD-214.”

Now, when not helping others find their happy places, she’s exploring the best beaches in Europe and editing (and re-editing) a novel.
