Bio

Carolyn Washington is a senior retired U.S. Army officer with over 30 years of active duty experience serving in Europe, Asia and Africa and collaborating with international organizations such as NATO, the United Nations, African Union, European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the promotion of U.S. foreign policy.  She is currently a PhD candidate in “Global Gender Studies” at the University at Buffalo where her research focuses on the integration of UNSCR 1325 within NATO militaries.  And at Florida State University, she teaches a course on “Women, Conflict and Disasters.”  Carolyn is also a member of the organization-Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS) where she co-chairs the Defense and Intelligence Working Group.
