Bio

Allison Hice is the branch manager for the Automation and Controls Research & Development branch (Code 321) at Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) with eleven years of experience.  Allison earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rowan University and began her career with Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division in 2012 as an In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for Solid Waste Equipment.  As an ISEA, Allison supported and led modernization projects, shipboard equipment grooms/overhauls, troubleshooting assistance, new construction acquisitions and inspections/testing, INSURV trials, ILS development & updates, MRP development for the Solid Waste test site, Solid Waste management practice studies, and test & operational procedures development. 

Allison earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Drexel University and a Certificate in Project Management from Pennsylvania State University, Great Valley Campus/Philadelphia Navy Yard in 2020, and she shifted her focus to pursuing management positions.  Allison was competitively selected for two rotational branch head positions, with the Energy Conversion R&D branch (Code 325) and the Automation and Controls R&D branch (Code 321), and she was selected as the permanent branch head for Code 321 in August 2020.  Allison provides supervision, leadership, mentorship and programmatic guidance support to 33 branch personnel.  Her responsibilities include performing organizational, administrative and financial management, providing technical leadership and oversight, performing supervisory functions, and aligning branch strategic plans and goals with command goals and policies. 

Allison has been an active member of ASNE and the Delaware Valley (DV) Section and has served on the DV Section board as the Membership Chair since 2019.  Allison has supported the re-invigoration of the ASNE DV section through strategic planning, process improvement, and the development of section goals that align with national objectives.  Allison has led, organized, facilitated and promoted events that encourage networking, knowledge sharing, communication and collaboration between government and private industry, like ASNE DV Tech Talks, networking events and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiatives.  Allison is also a member of the ASNE Scholarship Committee and reviews applications to provide recommendations for award of Society Scholarships.  In addition to ASNE, Allison also supports NSWCPD Lean-In Circles, multiple Employee Resource Groups and STEM outreach events, including Girl Scout Camps and the Delaware Valley Science Fair.
